Because they have no real advantage over any other aeg. They shoot no further or faster and are much heavier and bigger. With high caps a normal aeg is just as effective.

true to a degree but you do have 3500 rounds in some of them and most m4 high caps are 300-400 ish. So that is still a hell of alot more firepower. But is alot more weight also!!

My M249 para isn't THAT much heavier than my SCAR-L with the EGLM, a tracer and sights. It IS a lot more cumbersome though. Still.....it's cool

Even a 100rnd mid can lay down suitable enough suppressive fire to perform fire and manoeuvre tactics.

Unless you're playing very strict milsim, support guns are pointless.

That said, I do want one. Apart from shotguns they're the only class of weapon I've not yet owned one of.

Yes they may well hold 3500 rounds but no one actually holds the trigger down for that long unless they're a massive prick. Winding or a simple reload with 6-7 high caps gives you just as much ammo. Like Ed says, pointless unless you want the look.

Proper suppression isn't about volume of fire anyway, it's about firing at the right place at the right time to keep peoples heads down. Granted that can be achieved by hosing down the area with ammo but it's not always best!

Still, support guns ARE frikkin awesome!

lol that is true, its kinda for the look but also the point is if your defending somewhere like we were on Sunday for a hour and wave after wave of people are coming at you its nice to know someone in your team has 3500 rounds to use. I have had it the other way round attacking a heavy support guy and in SVS we only try and use Mid caps its dame hard trying to attack a dug in support gunner with Mid caps. But i get what ya saying you could just use an M4 layout 5 high caps and same thing, b...

I was using my M4 for suppression duties at The Mall (defending somewhere or other) and got through 5 mid caps of ammo in one game. If I'd had the SAW then I wouldn't have had an issue!
