i'd recommend an APS ASR110. The front end just looks awesome. Add a scope, bipod and a short m4 mag and it looks ready as a dmr. Also maybe a cheap knock off magpul prs stock.

I think 'different' is a much better word to describe the front end. Also, it's APS, my step-dad had an APS, the gearbox was f*cked after a few games, and the external quality was awful. Also, it has 'airsoft' trade marks rather than realistic ones.

I wouldn't even start to compare APS to high end guns from vfc and g&p lol.

They're all pretty sexual guns, not seen or heard much about the m14, it's TM based as far as I know but that's about it lol. the VFCs are very nice externally but can be a bit hit and miss internally, if you get a good one though, it's going to be really good. If it's going to be a dmr though it'd be upgraded anyway so go for whichever you like the look of best. For m...

I'm also leaning towards the M14, but saw the HK417 somewhere and considered it, then when I was trying to find a longer barrel version, I stumbled across the Scar SSR. Also, I already know the exact parts I'd need to buy to get the M14 up to 500 FPS and locked to semi.

Any idea what gearbox the Scar H and 417 use?

the 417 uses a proprietary gearbox but I'm pretty sure it's v2 based. The trigger components are held in a seperate box to the rest of the gears and stuff I think. You can see it in the link below

I think you have to buy the longer barrelled variant parts seperatley.

The scar i think uses a version 2 but it could be a 3- you'd have to check as I couldn't say for sure.
