That is the thing I'm talking about, but I'm worried the upper part of the hand guard part " the cool blocky one" would fit a real steel locking ring

TBH you're prob better keeping it M4 & fitting an M203, as others have already said...it could be problematic.
As you're said you got a great deal & modifying it this way might ruin that deal.
If you want an A3/4 with an UGL then sell the rif you have and buy one.
If you just want a rif with a UGL I still think adding one to the M4 you have is the best idea financially.

Using this hand guard and grenade launcher combo. As I can just pop it off that outer barrel and put it on the systema ptw. I'm just hoping that it's the same length as an actual m16a2 hand guard. If it's a bit longer than real steel, then I can just mod the hand guard
