what ye get?

Nothing too flashy this time round, largely testing out how their service/shipping is ahead of potentially ordering an RS B11-U/some form of gas tube rail to replace the repros I have (though leaving the gas tube cover as the stock wooden one is increasingly looking like the direction I'll go... purely for aesthetics). So this time round:

A-2L Lightweight Sling Mount (the one with their fancy proprietary m-lok fitting)

NPN-2's in both tan and black (dirt cheap, rail covers are always handy to have)

RP-1 Charging Handle

A patch, because why not ?‍♂️

fair enough, the npn-2 looks kinda interesting.

the e&l's do seem to have more of an RS fitment for rails and such (although the recievers are still slightly longer than rs iirc)

I was initially only looking for the A-2L, I have a repro A-1 which seems sturdy enough but the lack of availability on rail sizes (75mm or 45mm being the main options) left the rails over hanging where I'd be gripping it and digging into my palm. Ditching the rail and going with whatever it is they call their version of m-lok (BASIS I believe) solves that issue, and cuts some weight (not much but every little helps) and I simply found the design of the A-2L interesting (and likely less prone to wear) alongside being lighter. But the shipping costs from everywhere that carries them was too high to justify ordering just that, so figured I'd pick up a few other little bits from my 'get eventually, maybe' list.

Aye, the NPN-2's worked out at about 50p each (obviously not worth ordering alone given the shipping cost), but more than happy to give them a go at that price. Depending on what I use I'd be happy to send any spares your way.

You'll likely be pleased to know I've also picked up some paracord for the stock, I'm resisting the AR stock temptation... for now.

you want adjustable just go pt3/5 for the stock rather than ruin it :P

that said, the triangle folder with a wrap is pretty comfy, my jg is wrapped in true ak fashion with scrim net, electrical tape and a shitload of cable ties and it is comfy.

debating between doing the same on the new krink or getting a zenitco stock, i do need a bit more rise for the cheekweld to account for the pk1's *ahem* "liberal" interpretation of the phrase "bore offset"

I'd be lying if I was to say I'd be doing it more to irk you then anything else at this point, but I have a fancy 'FDE' BCM Gunfighter stock sitting here without a home at the moment. That alongside the fact I'll likely be using an 'FDE' BCM foregrip over the repro Zenitco one I have (it's simply just more comfortable, the slight angle on it does a lot of work for me) I genuinely think it'd look pretty smart, but we'll see. I imagine this RIF will be swapped around a fair bit from time to time based on what takes my fancy at that point in time.

I've gone completely off the Zenitco stocks aesthetically recently, but I wouldn't be shocked if that comes full circle. Having never used one I'll have to see how I get on with the triangle folder and go from there. But ohh boy does the thought of some heresy make my Jimmies rustle.

yeah, sadly it's too late for my to try using reverse psychology on the m4 stock thing :P

in my defence, it's not just ak's, it's any platform that doesn't require a buffer tube/can have an actual goddamn stock.

The convenience of such an easy to adjust length of pull is such a boon in my eyes, and why I find any sort of fixed length stock hard to get on with (unless it just happens to be the right length for me, which is where the 'we'll see' stems from with the triangle stock). I'm aware it's very much a topic largely looked at along the lines of memes, but for me personally there is method in the madness. I'm all for a RIF looking as nice as it can, while maintaining awareness that beauty is very much in the eye of the beholder, but I tend to take function/comfort over fashion in most instances. Fashion tends to come in once there are a few options that offer the same solution to a problem, i.e. Zenitco stock versus AR stock. At this point in time I just prefer AR stocks, though I'd be lying if the associated cost isn't contributed in there somewhere.

i've never really put much store in the length of pull argument. if anything i find it the reverse- having adjustability means spending ages trying to settle on the "right" amount and never really being happy with it, whereas full length stocks are much less distracting- you just use it as-is and deal with it.

i'm reminded of the inrangetv argument for adjustable length of pull that a lot of folk have their adjustable stocks set pretty damn close to the original sp1 stock length (on ar's at least)

same with cheek/chin weld, although granted a standard triangle folder with the pk1 is more of a beard weld so that doesn't count :P

That sounds an awful lot like folks who are set in their ways trying to preach/justify why they don't want to step into the current decade of tech :P , the 'nyet rifle is fine' brigade if you will... though they're certainly not limited to AKs. You can fish for a justification for anything if dig deep enough, in my eyes having the option to adjust is better than not, ultimately pretty damn close ≠the same. Hence the waiting to try out the triangle folder (for a day of playing, not just clearing rooms around the house) before swapping it out, if it's fine as is then there's no reason just change anything... granted a correct/comfortable LoP is something I hold quite high on the priority list. I have a pair of not so pristine shoulders and the difference in aches and pains between a day playing with LoP correct for me versus not is not insignificant. I can see how it's less of an issue for those that have never found much of a difference.
