So. I have not posted on this forum in over 5 years at this point possibly. But it is nice to be back. This place is fondly remembered.

Anyways.

So I want to build a 'proper loadout'

Imagine a plate carrier, helmet, belt, tactical headset (think of one that amplifies sounds so you can hear enemies easier?), radio (is this even any use?) and so on. To look sort of 'cool'. I currently play in a hoodie and micro chest rig mostly really. Nice goggles that don't fog up and a face mask.

What sort of things would you guys suggest, and where should I buy this things? For example, brands, specific replicas and so on.

I would want to have ideally ATACS FG BDUs, with green plate carriers/belts/helmets and so on, is it possible to be totally fine purchasing these things from Chinese brands? I have an ATACS FG boonie I've literally worn daily for years fishing, gardening, hunting and it has been totally fine which makes me think Chinese gear might not be so bad especially if you don't want to break the bank? ATACs FG is also sort of one of a kind so you'd maybe stand out a bit in the sea of multicams people wear these days?

Also what about a sidearm/holster?

I do already have a Specna arms edge SA-E07 purchased about 5 years ago, which is fully fitted out with an R-HOP, PDI barrel, retro arms gearbox, 16:1 gears, ASG motor and so on, so very kitted out, but I do wonder what sights people recommend, for example an LPVO type deal, elcan, or red dot? Obviously nothing too expensive. But no cheap rubbish either.

I don't want to really look like any real world military unit, but I do wan't to look somewhat interesting, but nothing too speedsoft looking (not my thing).

Or I don't know is wanting to look cool and wear helmets and plate carriers silly, and I should just use my random hodge podge kit and be fine. After all the AEG I use is great tbh.

I'd like to hear your guys thoughts down below.

Welcome back!

Aliexpress can be a great place to source some decent gear for cheaper; even some of the sights and scopes from there are decent enough for Airsoft and dont break the bank.

Wanting to look cool, etc is part of the fun and definitely not silly. At the end of the day, we are all playing war in the woods with toy guns lol

Hello,

Do you have any ideas about mid range stuff maybe, not quite aliexpress but not real military gear. Something in the middle.

Around that budget, I'd recommend looking at Warrior Assault Systems or Direct Action if you can stretch to them, as they're excellent quality. If those are a bit pricey, EmersonGear and Invader Gear offer great value and are well regarded for airsoft.

One day I will save enough to get me a Pencott Greenzone Platye carrier from Direct Action lol

Welcome back
Don't worry about looking silly, as @Punisher3990 posted we're all playing soldiers with toy guns. If anyone doesn't like your kit then that's their problem not yours.

Lots of ATACS FG bdus available here, both real and knock off.
I don't know how colour fast they are though as I remember a few people who I played alongside when it was first released complaining the genuine stuff faded very quickly

For a plate carrier I use this (also available in green)
Yes it's cheap and probably wouldn't last as long as a real one but it's been ok for me running around in once a month. One possible downside is that there isn't much space for lots of pouches but I try to only carry the essentials. Alternatively you could stick with your current chest rigs if it works for you

Helmets are also more common than a blonde in Southend so find a model you like and go with that. No idea if you can get covers in ATACS FG though so you might have to stick to plain green.

For a sidearm find a model you like the look of and we can advise on what make. Generally TM are the go to brand but others are available. Bare in mind though you might not use it much and it could spend 99% of a game day in the holster. For holsters avoid the cordura universal adjustable ones, they either hold the pistol tightly making it hard to draw quickly or are the opposite making it easy to drop the pistol.

I won't advise on radios or headsets as I don't use them.

Sights are another variable which different players prefer different types. For years I stock to red dots but this year switched to an elcan spectre as I'm getting old so the magnification helps for those longer range shots

Who cares? All that matters is having fun. I like to go dressed in stupid animal onesies.
That is pretty funny, I like the sound of that lol.

Anyone here know about headsets? Like peltors or howard leights?

Also if you get a plate carrier or belt in a solid colour like green for example you can easily get a few different sets of camo BDUs so you can run different stuff when you feel like it right?

To be honest, I regularly buy kit from Ali Exp
A lot of it is actually much better quality than expected for the price
Things like Flyye or 8-fields are good, I got a pair of really cheap (£30) G3 style trousers which are Tactical Tom if memory serves me
I didn’t expect much for the price, but they are proving good.

Sizing from the Chinese brands can be a bit different, I’m 5’10” / 36” waist, and have to buy XL or XXL when looking at their sizing charts, and found some can be a bit short in the body or long in the sleeve.

But it’s all about building a loadout that
1. You feel good about
2. Comfortable wearing
3. Look cool in (to you - doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks)

Don’t get caught up in buying real Crye or Spiritus gear to start off with, you may well want that in a while after you have tried out clone gear and figured out what works for you.

Also, less is more
Carry what you NEED, don’t try and fill every molle area with a grenade or mag pouch, it’ll only weigh you down and clutter you up and slow you.

Most importantly, enjoy the experience of building your loadout and trying it on in “moms basement” 😉

For FG garments I'd look at Invader Gear, I've been using their combat shirts for quite some time and the FG pattern called Everglade, despite being a knockoff since the original pattern was discontinued in favour of the X variants (iX as seen in my pfp, FG-X and AU-X), is still decent.

Gear wise, forget about plate carriers especially if you're on the rounder side of things, they sit like shit and don't offer any advantage whatsoever over a decent chest rig or belt kit. The same goes for helmets unless the site requires them.

'nother thing to consider is the amount of gear you want with you in game:
I generally don't have much unless I'm playing a tournament, let's say the "standard" kit is 3 highcaps (2+1 in the gnu), multitool, spare batteries, radio, water and bbs. I then add nods, thermal optic and extra layers if the game requires it.

Aliexpress can be fine for misc pouches, things like Tacos, FCPC plackards or dump pouches i buy real steel, due to sizing and mags normally get stuck, and by the time you've "played the lottery" on sizing you were better off just buying real.
for PCs i only buy real, its not worth the ££ in 90% of cases, they sit better, look better and just overall wear better and if you decide to sell you'll get most of your money back.
With that being said, if you dont wear it properly it will never be a "proper" loadout, not just larp stuff, but PCs are meant to sit high to cover your sternum.

heres some good stuff. though
Aliexpress - MISC pouches and fake things (glow sticks, tornquiets etc) for the LARP
Unobtainium gear
Tactical kit UK
JK army sell some decent stuff
Endeavourtactical
directactiongear (be careful on import costs)
deadlycustoms (fantastic belts)
blueforce gear (fantastic elastic pouches)
blackhawk does some decent stuff.
shekkingears
kydexcustomsuk
Ebay :)

Ive personally never been a fan of warrior stuff.
