Preamble whinge about home defence grey imports…..
This Huntsman sets off so many alarm bells, especially with the references to rubber balls and chalk balls in the assorted sites listing it. It is a “weapons training”, “home defence” and “less than lethal” design, of which many are coming into the country getting Home Office, Border Force and police attention as certain types of people like to get them and put them beside their bed complete with non-paintballs
As long as it is the listed 5.5 joules it’s OK, but these home defence designs get made at a higher power rating, then have a modified reduced power option such as 5.5 joules for the UK - when they arrive they are not always the right 5.5 edition
They may also have been set with one of the other projectiles, therefore a more dense .43” rubber ball etc ……. If properly tested at 5.5 joules, and where this would fit in velocity it should still be OK whichever .43” projectile is used
At .43” 5.5 joules with a paintball it is within the recognised limits of paintball:
5.5 joules is approx 4 foot pounds, so fits the legislation for “low powered air weapons” of 6 / 12 ft lbs depending on pistol or rifle types
and under 300fps, which is extra design criteria for the paintball goggle standard (the lens & frame must pass impact testing, but the entire goggle system must be able to take a 300fps hit from any angle)
These can “legally” be used as an air gun if they exceed the 300fps, which could cover some of those that come in at some get

More on topic about modifications to Airsoft
The “simplified” route for an airforsoft gun would be to hack up the internals to slot in Airsoft internals to make a 6mm Airsoft gun
I can’t see anything covering a manual to see how this is built, or even if the velocity is adjustable. I am going to assume then that this is similar to many of these styles, that it is mechanical inside with the body forming the air chambers etc
That is common for home defence and most magfed paintball designs on the market, as opposed to electronic solenoid based paintball systems which do much of the work preparing low pressure air as a drop in circuit board and air lines, then the final air chamber and bolt etc housed in the body
This will most likely need a lot of expertise in pneumatics to get a suitable air pressure in a suitably sized chamber before then the physical matter of a 6mm chamber and barrel
