Realsword- The Nokia of airsoft?

Funnily enough I came across a type 97 recently with everything in the box at what seems to be a reasonable price. Are they still worth getting as a "user" or are they better as wallhangers for the collector crowd?

Edit: I've also seen the Neg Airsoft vid about that custom one he did. Do they need that kind of work or are they OK to leave alone?
All I did to mine was:
Reshim
New motor
Fit a Perun AB++
Remove block in pistol grip.
Rewire so that the battery can sit in the pistol grip.

Regarding the block in the pistol grip, there is a small protrusion in the hollow pistol grip of the real steel versions of the QBZ 95 and QBZ 97; this prevents the cleaning kit, which is stored in the pistol grip, being pushed too far up. Unsurprisingly, the Real Sword Type 97 has the same protrusion; removing it enabled me to fit a 1400mAH 11.1v battery and a Perun AB++ up there.

I had a Real Sword Type 56-1 sometime around 2011 and whilst externally it was a thing of beauty I had nothing but problems with it. Getting mags to fit it was a pain in the arse, the only ones I found that would fit were the STAR plastic real cap mags, but they rarely fed properly. I ended up spending about £150 on 6 Real Sword AK mids. Then I had problems with them feeding constantly, the springs would always get stuck and I'd have to bash them repeatedly against a tree to get them to push up to the top to feed again. The hop-up on it was rubbish too. And because it was all proprietary parts I couldn't just swap it out for a better one. I ended up getting an LCT AKMS instead and that was so much better, primarily because I could get incredibly reliable mags for it and didn't have to worry about them not fitting. Ended up getting the full stock AKM, an AK-105 and the AMD-65 they made. Still have the AKMS and AKM and whilst they haven't been skirmished for a while they're still very pretty to look at :LOL: I do wonder what has become of my old Type 56-1 though now I saw this post. Like I said, externally it was incredible.
