Midlife crisis!!! GBBR suggestions

Depending on your budget, the TM MWS or DE clones of it are two solid performers at slightly different price points.

Outside of that, the new VFC KS-1 seems to be pretty great all-round, the older V3s are solid but require a fair bit of tinkering sometimes. (Particularly in the hop up).

GHK ARs are broadly quite good, the new 416 is apparently very good, but it has a price tag to match.

I think the most beginner friendly GBB I've owned is the VFC AK. It's the only one I haven't tinkered with, just works right out of the box. Of course, that's if you want an AK.

Welcome to the GBBR side of things. All of my AEGs and even my super pricey MTW-308 get no usage these days because GBBs (rifles and pistols) and gas bolt actions are all I use, even during the cold winter months.

I have 5 MWSs (mk12, urgi, m16, m4 cqbr, mk18) and they're all great, even the one that is basically just ropey parts all put together (the mk18). I haven't even had to replace the nozzle springs yet, though I do make sure to keep a few spares in my box of MWS parts because it's a known issue, but it's at least a very cheap part.

I will say that the TMs don't hop more than .28s out the box, and you want to be using heavier BBs in GBBRs; there are a couple of options, going for the Laylax or Waldo hop arm, or using a better nub like the sixG nub or the titan nub, with a better hop rubber. I use the Jaeger Precision titan nub and a Flamingo hop rubber in all of mine to hop .32s as that's my go-to 1.1J weight, or .45s in the mk12 if I'm running it as a DMR. I know some people like to run .36s or .4s in 1.1J GBBRs, but to me it's just overkill and it's where ammo starts getting exponentially more pricey. I find .32s perform well enough, but I don't think I'd want to go any lighter in a GBBR.

The biggest faff will be setting it up every game day and knowing which gas to use. Weather affects performance, so you'll need to tweak the NPAS (get an NPAS, they're essential...) on most game days. I only use ASG Ultraair; I use their normal green gas on any temperatures over around 18 celcius, orange gas between 10 - 18 celcius, and their red gas under 10 celcius, but that's flexible. I try to use the normal green gas as much as possible just because it's the cheapest by far since you can buy it in bulk from fire-support. I tend to buy 12 at a time.
