Also depends what kit you're running on top of it (plate carrier, etc) which might make you favour a ubacs, etc. I used to prefer a modified lightweight shirt with ubacs arms sewn on as a sort of best of both worlds (for me). Might not work as well with a PC as it would with a belt rig, etc.

For rotated images the problem is probably exif data. Suggest getting something like Irfanview, rotating and saving the image and making sure the option to reset exif data is checked when you save.

Unlikely to see a significant change if you've got a 130 spring in there. Very roughly .40's probably give you 300-310fps (similar/same joules). Of course, the easiest way to test this would be to borrow a handful of .4's from someone friendly just to chrono.
